A Message from Coach Thompson
Thank your Spouse
“When was the last time you told your spouse, “Thank you,” for all that he/she does to support you as a coach? We so often forget to thank those who are our biggest supporters. With the season quickly approaching and fall workouts underway, it is easy to get into “coach mode” and forget just how much our spouses do for us and how much they pick up the slack with our families when we are not around.
I know that recently my wife was talking about how nice it would be to go somewhere over Christmas break, but we cannot do that because we are a basketball family. Each and every season is going to bring ups and downs and our family makes tons of sacrifices for us to be able to do what we love doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) – “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
While we are commanded to give thanks and praise to the Lord, don’t forget that without the support of your spouse you wouldn’t be able to do what you do. Gifts and recognition on social media are great, but never underestimate the continued power of a simple “Thank you!”
